Fucked Forever: The Spokane Punk Rock Story is the history of a small town punk rock scene told by those who made it happen.

The cultural isolation of Spokane, Washington in the 1980s incited a group of bored teenagers to band together and create a punk rock scene that would test the social and moral boundaries of conservative small-town America. This film recounts the creative peaks and the nihilistic lows that were the scene's legacy, and examines the profound affect the scene had on the participant's later lives.

Aggressive, experimental music was the mucilage that bound the free thinkers and fringe dwellers together. They were the vanguard of the D.I.Y. subculture, and they culled their unorthodox look from thrift bins and surplus outlets, all the while enraging parents, police, and rednecks alike with malcontent attitudes and upstart behavior.

This coming-of-age story becomes a coming-of-middle-age story as the scene's survivors take an unflinching look at their past, and reconcile the implications of taking part in the last real youth revolt in America. For some the results were devastating -- drug addiction, death, and a lifetime of alienation. But choosing to stand apart from the crowd back then defined their futures, forging a bond that survives decades and distance, and just may be the glue that holds them together forever.

Fucked Forever is a feature-length documentary film shot in HDV. The film follows the theme of small town isolation in the 80s and how it spurred some youth of that time to creative heights and others to existential lows. The film eschews traditional journalistic trappings in favor of a more visceral style of communicating the desperation of the times and the wonder at having survived it.  Using an unpolished, indie aesthetic, we juxtapose past and present using interviews, archival footage and stills, animated recreations, and period soundtrack. Verité footage will provide an angle on key characters that pushed the boundaries of the old maxim of sex, drugs and rock-n-roll and where they stand now in relation to their libertine past.

Fucked Forever is currently in production with an expected release in early 2011.
